Concept Cars at the LA Auto Show

With a thousand cars to view, the LA Auto Show has something for everyone. Many show vehicles are upgrades of last year’s models, showing off their new features, while others are concept cars that are making their first debut as production models. The newest concept cars are some of the most intriguing at any auto show as they display a possible vision for the future of the automobile industry. In that regard, this year’s concepts do not fail show goers.

Aria FXE Supercar

The Aria concept Supercar is one that has the power to compete with the likes of the Bugatti Veyron and its ilk. Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 turning out 1,150 horsepower, driving all four wheels, the Aria FXE Supercar is lined up to run from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds. With a price tag of around $650,000, the Aria FXE Supercar is no small drop in the bucket, but it’s easy to see why that is. The designers of the Aria had raw power and speed in mind when envisioning this supercar concept.

BMW X7 iPerformance

Big, luxurious, and efficient, the BMW X7 iPerformance is a premium concept with a design that will go head to head with other luxury SUV’s. What the BMW has that others lack is a BMW TwinPower engine that offers exceptional efficiency, the goal of the designers, and dynamic plug-in hybrid powertrain that keeps the X7 on the road, no matter the weather. The more complicated a car, the more there is to maintain and a car warranty that covers your vehicle from end to end is valuable when making a purchase of this year’s model, or the concept of your dreams.

Land Rover Discovery SVX

Harkening to its off-road heritage, the Land Rover Discovery SVX concept is designed to be pitted against Jeep Wranglers, Dodge Power Wagons, Toyota 4Runners, and Land Cruisers. The Supercharged V8 of the Range Rover sets it apart from the competition, and the specially tuned suspension and active roll control will give it an edge when getting down and dirty, off-road.

Mazda Vision Coupe

Elegant, refined, minimalism sets the Mazda Vision apart from the pack. From its aggressive nose to its receding tail the Mazda Vision concept rivals the size and lines of a Porsche Panamera, yet should have a much lower price if this visionary model comes to fruition. If designers were going for a big roomy sedan, with the appearance of a performance coupe, then this design nails it. Little is known about how Mazda might power the Vision but a rotary power plant would fit nicely under this coupes hood.

Future Toyota Adventure Concept (FT-AC)

The design philosophy of the Toyota Adventure Concept is one of action. With superb ground clearance, a spacious interior, torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive, and variable terrain response settings, the FT-AC will be ready for any new trail you choose to tackle. With features like a safari style rack, and an integrated bike rack, this is one concept that we would like to see on road, and off. Power plants for the FT-AC are as conceptual as the chassis, but a hybrid idea has been kicked around. It may show up in this new rendition of a Toyota off-road vehicle if they decide to build it as a production model.

Volkswagen I.D. Concept

With three I.D.’s, Volkswagen covers three styles of transportation with one concept. Comprised of the Buzz, Crozz, and I.D. coupe, Volkswagen is visualizing three new electric vehicles that will suit the needs of different drivers. The Buzz is a throwback to the Volkswagen microbuses of days past, while the Volkswagen Crozz concept is a crossover that is spacious, yet efficient.

The base I.D. is the smallest of the three models and is a perfect commuter size car that will have zero emissions if it hits the streets. With a dedication to the electric vehicle market, it is quite possible that Volkswagens I.D. concepts will become a reality in the near future.
